Formed in the year 2000 by Patrick D. McCormick and Carl Berger, Media Violence carved its niche within the local Industrial Electronic/Rock scene from its base in Hampton, Virginia. The band quickly made its mark on the East Coast, garnering a loyal following in the Gothic/Industrial music circles during the early 2000s. Following the debut album’s release, Carl Berger parted ways with the band, transitioning Media Violence into a primarily solo endeavor helmed by McCormick, albeit with a rotating ensemble of collaborators and live musicians enriching the project’s sound and performance dynamics.
Throughout its active years, Media Violence has cultivated a rich discography, contributing eight full-length albums, alongside a diverse range of EPs, remix albums, and collections to the music world. Despite a hiatus initiated in 2009, McCormick rekindled the Media Violence flame, revealing in 2023 his return to the studio at the creation of SOUND DISCOVERY RECORDS.
Fans of the project can eagerly anticipate new material slated for release in 2024, marking a new chapter in the band’s evolution and McCormick’s enduring passion for the fusion of industrial soundscapes and industrial rock energy.
