In the mid-90s, Patrick McCormick initiated a bold foray into the industrial and experimental music landscape with his project, Perpetual Taxidermy, blending elements from punk, hardcore, and industrial genres. His innovative use of early wave editing software on a Macintosh enabled him to experiment with manipulated drum loops, atmospheric sounds, and movie samples, laying the groundwork for his distinctive sound. This period was marked by significant collaborations, notably with Arin Bennett on the Breech Doll project, where they explored the capabilities of MOD Trackers, pioneering a unique approach to music production.
Transitioning from analog to digital, McCormick’s creation of Another Earthly Dimension (AED) represented a significant evolution in his musical journey, integrating vocals and expanding the project’s sonic palette with contributions from various musicians. The move to digital production culminated with “Friction In Fiction,” AED’s fully digital album, highlighting McCormick’s adaptability and foresight in embracing new technologies. This transition not only marked a departure from traditional production techniques but also underscored McCormick’s enduring impact on the experimental and industrial music scene.
